Cat's electric violin was made to her custom specifications by the very talented folks at Zeta!
Bio
Eclectic electric and acoustic violinist Cat Taylor, was educated classically with a BA in music from UC Santa Barbara, and has studied with Charles Meacham, India Cooke and David Balakrishnan. She served as music and dance director for The Living History Centre, producers of The Renaissance Pleasure Faire and The Dickens Christmas Fair, and has just been named Director of Entertainment for “As You Like It Productions“ producers of the Great Dickens Christmas Fair and Santa Barbara Renaissance Faire and Midsummer Market™. In 1997, she created, produced, directed, composed for and played in the critically acclaimed Irish step-dance show: “Shanachie: The Challenge of the Sidhe” which made it’s debut at the Northern California Renaissance Pleasure Faire.
Cat has performed with a diverse combination of ensembles that include everything from classical and show orchestras and Celtic balladeers to jazz and wild rock and roll. She has been featured on a number of albums including pioneering Celtic Fusion band Phoenyx’s "Keepers of the Flame", with Toys in the Attic on "The Infinite Summer of Love" on Taxim Records in Germany, gypsy jazz-ers Go Van Gogh's eponymous release on the Accretions label and Celtic-Middle-Eastern-tribal-trance-dance ensemble Haunted By Waters’, "Like the Dust" on X Dot 25 Records.She also performed for five years with Amazon Queen, a funky-blues-rock band which performed at NOW's Fight the Right March and Rally, The Hookers Ball and Burning Man.
Cat is also a clinician for Zeta Music, makers of electric and midi violins, and conducts demos and clinics for them at locations up and down the West Coast. She is currently performing with Celtic-Medieval rockers “Avalon Rising” and the trio“The Veil” which is working on the recording project “The Sphinx & the Veil” blending spoken word and The Veil’s combination of Celtic, Middle Eastern and rock music.
